Pakachere Institute of Health and Development Communication not only specialises in Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) but undertakes Capacity development activities. The Capacity Development activities aim at better enabling organizations and individuals make significant impact in their different fields.
In line with its strategic plan and Resource Mobilization Strategy Pakachere identified core areas of its Capacity Development Strategy which are SBCC and Organisation Development (OD). The ultimate goal of the Capacity Development is support organisations, especially NGOs develop more effective and efficient ways of implementing their programs.
Pakachere Capacity Development activities are demand driven and respond to actual needs of client organizations. Some previous successful activities include supporting establishment of first female sex workers alliance in Malawi, conducting applied research into barriers towards adopting acceptable behaviours, training institutions in SBCC and Management. Pakachere was key in developing the capacity of the leadership with various skills in leadership, management and Behavioural Change.
Pakachere has also developed capacities of individuals in SBCC and supported institutions community and national level implement behavioural change interventions. From supporting individuals and institutions develop research skills to equipping them with skills in designing SBCC interventions Pakachere has curved a niche is developing models that have brought about behavior change at both organization and community level.
Over and above these achievements, Pakachere has again managed to support organisations with strategic documents and these documents range from strategic plans to Communication and Advocacy Strategies.
Currently the unit has experts in SBCC, Program and Finance Management, Monitoring and Evaluation and Organisation Development.
